ATMOSPHERIC SCIENCE INSTRUMENTS
Sophisticated instruments for the measurement of specific atmospheric parameters
The atmospheric science range of instruments includes both products manufactured by Kipp & Zonen and others that have been developed by specialist companies and are exclusively distributed by Kipp & Zonen worldwide. In general these are more complex instruments for scientific research and network use and are computer controlled with sophisticated data processing software.
Atmospheric science instruments include the Brewer spectrophotometer for stratospheric ozone and high accuracy UV measurements, scintillometers, solar monitoring stations, sky radiometers, passive microwave Meteorological Temperature Profilers and Lidar systems.
Brewer Spectrophotometer
Brewer provides near simultaneous observations of the total ozone column, SO2, and UV spectra.
Scintillometers
Large Aperture Scintillometers consist of a transmitter and receiver for measuring atmospheric turbulence over distances from 100 m to 8 km. ET Systems deliver surface heat flux and evapo- transpiration data from a complete, easy to use, package.
Scientific Solar Monitoring Station
The Kipp & Zonen Scientific Solar Monitoring Station offers high accuracy measurements of direct, diffuse and global solar irradiance and complies with the guidelines of BSRN.
Sky Radiometers
POM Sky Radiometers for the measurement of direct and scattered solar radiation at multiple wavelengths for the calculation of aerosol properties and distributions.
Sun Photometers
A spectrophotometer with no moving parts for routine measurement of the spectrum of direct solar radiation.
Calibration Facility
The Calibration Facility is meant for calibration of pyranometers by comparison to a reference pyranometer. As such it offers a solution for quality control of the stability of the pyranometers that are used in the network of the user.
